2015 Jamis Aurora

The versatility of Jamis' Aurora is perfect for commuting, touring, training, and winter-through-summer group rides. You'll love the magic-carpet ride of the Reynolds 520 double-butted chromoly frame and the way the 27-speed Shimano/FSA drivetrain flattens the hills. Plus, the wide, puncture-resistant 32mm Vittoria tires float over rough roads and the cantilever brakes offer mud clearance and top-notch stopping power. Full-coverage fenders, a rear rack, and a chainstay spoke carrier show off its utilitarian side.

Comments:

After my first ride I found it necessary to find a more comfortable saddle. aside from the saddle, this is so comfortable and is a pleasure to ride. If I am looking for a fast, quick ride I leave this bike in the garage. If I am riding on easy rail to trail paths or fairly flat areas This is my choice. this is so heavy compared to most road bikes. This is a good bike for specific riding desires but do not think you can replace a light weight road bike with this.

Comments:

I biked everywhere until age 26. Bought a "mountain bike" in 2000 but it was squishy and uncomfortable because it didn't fit physically or mentally. In 2010 at age 52, I bought a bike from J&L bicycle company in Burlington, NC. I've always wanted to have a blue bike and the 2010 Aurora happened to be in blue. Silly chick thing. Then I got the bike and began riding. OMG it fits my body perfectly. It's a "real bike". I feel secure because the weight provides enough stability in 25-30 miles/hr wind gusts. It reminds me of childhood. If I don't get a ride in first thing in the morning (on the most beautiful bike on the planet), my day isn't optimal....seriously. Thank you for this most spectacular (and gorgeous) bike!! Her name is Bella Coola - after my most beautiful place in the world - Bella Coola, British Columbia. Leslie Bray Graham, NC

Comments:

I've had my '08 Jamis Aurora for nearly a year now. In that time, I've used it to commute to work, ride the local bike paths, take 60-70 mile weekend jaunts, and climb the only mountain within 50 miles of my house. I even did a cyclocross race (using 'cross-specific tires) on it this past fall. On road or off, this bike can take it. I weighed 240+ when I first started riding it, and wasn't too worried about damaging the frame or wheels. I have noticed that the wheels have gone out of true a bit more often than I'd like, but that's probably a function of my weight (I'm under 210 now) a couple of minor spills, and the luck of the draw with machine-built wheels. Yes, it's a bit on the heavy side, but if you weigh as much as I do, weight really shouldn't be a concern of yours. If you're looking for a bike that can do it all and won't break the bank too badly, the Aurora's not a bad place to start.

    Comments:

I love this bike. I commute on it every day, and take it on fun rides with friends on the weekends. It's utilitarian enough to lug around lots of stuff in panniers, but zippy enough that I can keep up with anyone (within reason). Unlike some road bikes, this bike can fit a wider tire if you need them for a ride on an unpaved trail. It's great to have a bike that can do basically any ride I want to do.

    Comments:

I've been commuting on this for a month now...I ride up to the U from liberty park area. The Aurora's steel smooths out the bumpy, broken roads, and the climbing gears get me up the steepness no problem. I frigging love this bike! Its a tad heavy, and I would have appreciated a better color selection, but the bike rides like a dream. I can't imagine commuting on anything else. Plus, its all drilled for adding fenders and racks, which is super convenient.

      Comments:

This bike is tottally awsome. It's slightly heavier than a standard road bike, but it's dramatically more stable and comfortable. The stock components that come with it work quite well, the stock tires are excellent. The only things I'd suggest are bike shoes and clipless pedals to turn it from a very good bike to a truly great bike. I love this bike, and having it has changed my life. While it's not as fast as say a giant OCR3, and it is a little more expensive, the components are more durable and the ride is so incredibly easy that the bike practically begs me to do long distance trips. Also, it doesn't come stock with a luggage rack or panniers, so be aware that youmay need to purchase these.
