My best friend bought a Trek and wanted me to start riding with him. I haven't owned a bike in 15 yrs. I went to look around because I was leaning toward buying a bike online, but didn't have any idea what I wanted to ride. Test rode the Electra Verse 24D Disc. I really liked the bike and bought it, I really liked the Electra because of the components, the disc brakes and the price. I really like the disc braking system. Been riding for a month now and I love it.
My best friend bought a Trek and wanted me to start riding with him. I haven't owned a bike in 15 yrs. I went to the Bike Barn to look around because I was leaning toward buying a bike online, but didn't have any idea what I wanted to ride. Test rode a Trek hybrid, a road bike with 700c/25 tires and the Electra Verse 24D Disc. I really liked all of the bikes just fine, but ended up with the Electra because of the components, the disc brakes and the price. I really like the disc braking system. Been riding for a month now and I love it. The people at the Bike Barn are very helpful and got me "set-up". Thanks B. Jones for your help.
I'm a 6'4"/225 road bike guy who went on a vacation to Cape Cod. I just wanted to keep my conditioning up while on vacation. I toyed with the idea of shipping my bike, but decided to try renting a bike for the trip. A Hybrid rental was less than 1/2 price compared to a road bike rental ($100/wk vs. $250/wk), so I gave it a shot. The rental was a regular Verse (no Disc brakes). I had to get used to the big/soft seat (non-stock) that the rental came with - that was it. I wasn't racing, just being touristy - Rode for Coffee (6 miles), Rode to town for dinner (12 miles), rode to the ferry and around Martha's Vineyard (50 miles). I loved the geometry, gear ratios, and lower center of gravity. I averaged 25 miles a day (min 13, max 50), and could not get enough of it. The rental was nearly new and worked flawlessly. I have nothing but good things to say about this relatively inexpensive bike. For the money, I'm thinking of buying the disc brake version just for fun stuff around town!
